American Herbal Products Association (AHPA)

The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) was founded in 1982 by leading companies in the emerging herbal products marketplace. Its Mission is to support responsible commerce of herbs and herbal products. AHPA chartered its Cannabis Committee in 2010 with the express purpose to address issues related to the safe use and responsible commerce of legally-marketed products derived from Cannabis species. The Committee’s primary focus in the interim has been to develop regulatory models for all phases of Cannabis commerce (cultivation, manufacturing, dispensing, and lab practices) – these models now serve as the basis for ASA’s Patient Focused Certification program and have been submitted to regulators in states where use of medical cannabis/marijuana is legal.
